What Is a Specialized Investment Fund (SIF)?

A Specialized Investment Fund (SIF) invests your money in a mix of stocks, bonds, real estate, and even derivatives, all managed by experts. Unlike regular mutual funds, managers in SIFs have more freedom to switch between these assets and use strategies like hedging to protect your investment from big market falls.

SIFs target people who can invest at least ₹10 lakhs and want more options and the chance for higher growth. These funds can put money in areas like equity, company debt, property projects, and sometimes alternative assets. SIFs are made for investors who want both safety and opportunity in one package. Tax rules for SIFs are simple—they’re just like those for mutual funds.
